Butterfly is a very popular topic among stamp collectors. So this is not surprising to see so many stamps picturing all sort of types and species of butterflies. Recently, Swedish post has started a new series about this topic. The first stamp of this series was issued on the 22nd of March 2007. I was interested by the original approach that they use for this stamp. Look at it.

Instead of picturing a butterfly in a traditional way, they decided to show a close-up of the wing of a Large Blue (Maculinea arion), which is a protected butterfly and very rare in Sweden.
As you can see the stamp is a self-adhesive stamp with an interesting perforation.
